Die Tage vor Israels Unabhängigkeitstag sind die ersten Tage des Ex-Häftlings Herzl in Freiheit. Mit Gleichmut bewegt er sich unauffällig durch seine Tage. Dieser Mann stellt keine Ansprüche. Gibt es überhaupt einen Unterschied zwischen drinnen und draußen? Was unterscheidet den bedrückenden Alltag am Rande der Gesellschaft von der Enge des Gefängnisses? In kargen, unspektakulären Bildern zeichnet Toothache ein genaues Portrait jedes einzelnen Menschen in Herzls Nachbarschaft. Mit wenigen Details werden die Figuren charakterisiert, ihre jeweiligen Bedingtheiten beschrieben. Unauflösbar scheinen Schicksale miteinander verwoben. Unausweichlich nimmt die Geschichte ihren Lauf. Düstere Bilder, die in dramaturgischer Dichte konsequent in die Enge treiben.

The days leading up to Israel's Day of Independence are ex-prisoner Herzl's first days in freedom. He stoically moves inconspicuously through his days. This man makes no demands. Is there any difference at all between life behind bars and on the outside? What distinguishes the oppressive everyday life at the margins of society from the narrow confines of the prison? In bare, unspectacular images, TOOTHACHE shows a precise portrait of each individual person in Herzl's neighboring surroundings, their own limitations are described. Destinies seem indissolubly bound to one another. The story drives inexorably towards its conclusion. Gloomy images that with a dramaturgic density relentlessly push into a corner.
