Synopsis
17. Mai 1977. Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte Israels erobert der rechte Likud die Mehrheit im Parlament und leitet damit Veränderungen ein, die die politische Landschaft des Landes für immer verändern sollten. Die Nachricht vom Durchbruch Menachem Begins erschüttert Genya so sehr, daß sie sich in ihr Bett zurückzieht und es fortan nicht mehr verlassen will. Mit der Starrköpfigkeit des Alters igelt sie sich ein, und weder gute Worte noch die spitzbübischen Listen ihres Mannes Tolek locken sie in den Alltag zurück. Je länger Genyas trotzige Apathie andauert, um so größer wird Toleks Verzweiflung – bis sie schließlich in jungenhaften Übermut umschlägt. In der Geschichte der beiden Alten lebt die Atmosphäre jener politischen Umbruchszeit wieder auf. |

Synopsis
May 17, 1977. For the first time in Israel´s history, the right-wing Likud wins the majority of seats in the Knesset and introduces changes that would ultimately change the political landscape of the country forever. The news of Menachem Begin´s breakthrough upsets Genya so much that she retreats to her bed, and from that moment on refuses to come out. With the stubbornness of old age, she retreats inside her shell, and neither the good words nor the playful tricks of her husband Tolek entice her back to normal everyday life. The longer Genya´s apathy lasts, the more Tolek despairs, until one day he takes drastic action. This story of these two elderly people brings back the atmosphere of that time of political change. |
