Synopsis
Dror (hebr. für Freiheit) kehrt nach langer Abwesenheit in seinen Kibbutz zurück. Er trifft auf seine alte Clique, deren Mitglieder sich wie einst mit Sonnenbrille und Baseballmütze auf der Hollywoodschaukel lümmeln und Sprüche reißen. Auch der Ehealltag von Eviatar und Tzipoyke ist in den engen Grenzen des Kibbutz gefangen. Er verbringt seinen Alltag im Dreck des Kuhstalls, sie reinigt die schmutzige Wäsche für die Gemeinschaft. Wie die Kühe im Stall vegetieren die Kibbutzbewohner dumpf vor sich hin. Der Alltag drückt Mensch und Tier seinen Stempel auf. Auch Dror soll seinen Anspruch auf Selbstfindung aufgeben und sich der Kibbutzgemeinschaft unterordnen. Auf seine Suche nach einem Freiraum in diesem Mikrokosmos, der Individualität und (Homo-)Sexualität feindselig ausgrenzt, reagiert sie mit Gewalt. Die Handlung wird von kurzen ? die Ereignisse auf einer Metaebene kommentierenden ? Sequenzen unterbrochen. In einem theaterhaft stilisierten Raum reflektieren die Kibbutzbewohner vor der Kamera Ereignisse aus Vergangenheit und Gegenwart und formulieren so die ungeschriebenen Spielregeln des Gemeinschaftslebens. |

Synopsis
After a long absence, Dror (Hebrew for freedom) returns to his kibbutz. There he meets up with his old gang, who still hang out on the garden swing in their sunglasses and baseball hats, cracking jokes just as they had done years ago. The married life of Eviatar and Tzipoyke is also caught within the narrow confines of the kibbutz. He spends his everyday life in the mud of the cow stall; she cleans the dirty laundry for the community. Like the cows in the stall, the kibbutz dwellers vegetate apathetically day in, day out. Everyday life irrevocably marks both man and animal. Dror is also supposed to surrender his right to self-discovery, and subject himself to the kibbutz community. On his search for a free space within this microcosm, which brutally excludes individuality and (homo)sexuality, the community reacts violently. The plot is broken up by short sequences that comment on the events on a metalevel. In a theatrical, stylized space, the kibbutz dwellers reflect on events from past and present, and thus formulate the unwritten rules of the game of community life. |
