Synopsis
Levana Zadikov ist eine charmante Postbotin, eine 40-jährige Single.Sie lebt noch immer mit ihrer gebrechlichen Mutter zusammen und träumt davon, zu heiraten und eine Familie zu gründen. Levana lebt in Yad Eliyahu und trägt im Norden Tel Avivs die Post der Bessergestellten aus. Das Aufregendste in ihrem Leben ist das tägliche Radioquizz, dessen Lösung sie stets mit Leichtigkeit errät – aber natürlich hat sie nie den Mut, den Sender anzurufen. Eines Tages zieht Albert Casuto, ein charmanter, gebildeter und gutsituierter Mann um die 50 in Levanas Zustellbezirk. Sie ist sofort von ihm bezaubert, und als sie in seiner Post eines Tages eine Zuschrift auf eine Annonce in der Rubrik 'Einsame Herzen' entdeckt, handelt sie schnell und entschlossen. Den originalen Brief ersetzt sie durch einen eigenen, in dem sie in die Rolle der Witwe Rachel schlüpft: einer wohlhabenden Witwe, Lehrerin für Literatur, Theater- und Poesieliebhaberin. Zwischen Mr. Casuto und Levana entwickelt sich eine innige Brieffreundschaft. Aber schließlich will Mr. Casuto die gefühlvolle und kluge Frau kennenlernen, deren Briefe ihn faszinieren, und Levana muß sich entscheiden. Romantischer Traum einer Frau aus bescheidenen Verhältnissen, die die Hoffnung auf ihre große Chance nicht aufgegeben hat. |

Synopsis
Levana Zadikov is a charming postwoman, a forty-year-old single woman. She still lives with her increasingly fragile mother, and dreams of marrying and having a family. Levana lives in Yad Eliyahu and delivers the mail to those who are better off in the northern parts of Tel Aviv. The most exciting thing in her life is the daily radio quiz. She always easily guesses the solutions, but of course never has the courage to call the station. One day, Albert Casuto, a charming, educated, and well-off man around 50, moves into an apartment on Levana´s route. She is immediately charmed by him, and when one day she finds a reply to a “lonely hearts“ ad in his mail, she acts quickly and decisively. She replaces the original letter with her own, slipping into the role of Rachel, a wealthy widow, literature teacher, theater and poetry lover. In the letters between Mr. Casuto and Levana an intimate friendship develops between the two correspondents. But finally Mr. Casuto wants to meet the sensitive and intelligent woman whose letters fascinate him, and Levana has to make a decision. A romantic dream of a woman from a simple background who has not given up the hope for her big chance. |
