Synopsis
Der zwanzigjährige Ido, talentierter Musiker und charismatischer Bandleader, genießt ein umtriebig-lautes Leben, verbringt jede freie Minute mit den Jungs seiner Rockgruppe. Sein Leben ist die Musik ? so jedenfalls nehmen ihn Freunde und Familie wahr. Irritiert, verständnis- und sprachlos reagiert seine Umgebung, als Ido aus diesem Kosmos ausbricht, um als 'Choser BeTshuva' Mitglied der orthodoxen Beitar-Gemeinde zu werden, sich einem streng regulierten Alltag unterwirft und intensiven Thorastudien widmet. Ein Jahr lang folgt der Film Ido in sein neues Leben, dokumentiert seinen inneren und äußeren Wandel und die Reaktionen jener, die ihm in der säkularen Welt nahestanden. Synopsis
The twenty-year old Ido, a talented musician and the charismatic lead singer in a band, enjoys an active, loud life, and spends every free minute with the boys in the band. His life is music - at least that's how his friends and family perceive him. His family and friends are left irritated, uncomprehending, and speechless when Ido breaks out of this cosmos to become as 'Choser BeTshuva' a member of the orthodox Beitar Community, subjecting himself to a strict everyday regimen and dedicating himself to intensive study of the Torah. The film follows Ido for a year in his new life, documenting his inner and outer transformations and the reactions of those who had been close to him in the secular world. A talkative film that attempts to trace out the fascinating story of an abrupt biographical turn from various perspectives. |
